Course Modules are content-focused modules that allow admins to upload and structure learning materials using media and basic quizzes.
๐ Course modules are a seperate but similar content type to assesment modules - and both can exist together within a course.
Module names
Each course module has the following descriptive options
Course Name (input field)
Course Description:
Both will be displayed on the user-portal and allow users to understand what the specific course is about and contains.
Types of content uploaded to a course module:
Courses modules can include slides created from uploading:
PDF documents
PowerPoint presentations
Embedded videos (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo)
Images (PNG, Jpg, JPEG)
Quiz pages
๐ The last item in the list above is Quiz pages, and this is for simple quiz questions to be added into courses that contain PDFs, PPTs, videos etc. For standalone quiz options see 2.3.2 Course assessments that allows for wider customisation and options.
Arranging Slide Contents:
Once a content item has been uploaded it can be previewed and seen as an asset under the pages column.
Each slide has 2 different icons on it for adjustments:
First is drag-and-drop icon
, which when grabbed allows the owner to move the slide up-and-down in the slide order. Second is the delete icon
that removes the slide from the course editor. Each page has a title-input field to allow for text title to display when the user sees the course.
Combining elements:
Static assets like PPTs, PDFs and Videos can be combined together into courses using course modules. By creating a module and uploading different assets in order you can combine multi-media objects that make dynamic learning experiences.
Using the drag-and-drop icon on the slide preview you will be able to make sure the course plays out for the user in a suitable way.
Upload limits for courses:
Individual files uploaded directly to a Course (such as videos, PDFs, images, or presentations) are limited to 300 MB per file. This limit is in place to optimize the speed and delivery of courses, ensuring fast loading times and a smooth experience for end users.
For larger files or high-resolution videos, itโs recommended to embed content from platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, or use integrations with Google Drive or OneDrive.
YouTube / Vimeo Content
In courses you can add both YouTube and Vimeo Links into course content. Under the course editor, after creating a module you can add a module-slide that holds either type of embeded video.
YouTube:
From the video page in YouTube, find the video's unique link that should look similar to "https://youtu.be/ps1f7p720FA".
Vimeo:
From the video page in Vimeo, find the video's unique link that should look similar to "https://vimeo.com/68481134".
Links:
Videos from either YouTube or Vimeo must be in a public state, and visible to non-logged in users. Videos that are locked behind a paywall, or not in a publicly visible state will not be able to play.
๐ Make sure you only pick the URL, and no other data that will result in a video that can't play. An example would be if you pasted in the embed script instead of the unique URL from YouTube or Vimeo that includes <script></script> or similar.
โ
โBe sure to only copy the video URL like the examples above!
